Great horseback riding and the accommodations are wonderful. Would recommend 100%. I will be back again.
It is a great place to get away from reality and a place to relieve stress from everyday life. You can bring your horses, family, friends, and buddies to enjoy the peaceful world the countryside offers. The Air B&B is available to rent. I personally go there as much as I can to relax. You can enjoy the wildlife the wilderness has to offer in a peaceful setting. Completely secluded and private. Please check it out as soon as you can. I definitely recommend that you experience it.
Our family has rented a number of the homes a handful of times. Always such a great atmosphere and a fantastic property! Notably, the Barn stay is a hit for large family gatherings and the kids love seeing all the goats, sheep, donkeys, etc. so close by!
We stayed at BVR this weekend for the Father's Day camp and ride. We LOVE to explore different places on horseback and have been all over the place in several different states. We call Wisconsin home and are lucky to have access to several different equestrian campgrounds. We were looking for something different to try and came across BVR at the recommendation of many. The good: Certainly a beautiful area. Creek crossings are something we love to find and there are several. If you like hills, you will have plenty to explore here. Seems to be a variety of rigor to trails. Grounds are well-groomed/very clean. Amazing facilities, including safe, spacious pens, an enclosed Pavillion with yard games and grills, a beautiful shower house, a large arena, and their cabins look absolutely beautiful. The not so good: I can't get myself to rate this place more than 3 stars for the complete lack of organization. Website has limited info, but capable to collect booking fees of course. No assigned campsites. No one to greet at check-in, inaccurate campground map (showing water tanks where there aren't any), couldn't find a dump station. Trail maps are a disaster. Trails are a maze with signage that is illegible in some places, completely off the map in others. For how much you pay (separate charges for campsite, electric use, EACH corral, and trail passes...for private land...on top of paying for each corral), I would love for them to invest in a better system to map out trails. We got lost with our young kids. I would not recommend this place with little riders. No fire pits or picnic tables at sites, and not allowed to have your own fire pit unless it's above ground. Sites are in an open field with zero shade for humans or horses. I can see why this is a favorite to many (scenery is beautiful), but it was one of the most expensive places we've ever been with the least amenities and completely absent staff on one of only 4 or 5 weekends open for camping. The trail maps may not bother some, but are valued to us. If we come back, it will be to try one of their vacation homes with extended family. Appreciate the owners sharing their slice of heaven with us! Hopefully this feedback helps with improvements in the future!!
BVR is one of my favorite places to ride! It's a beautiful place with amazing views.. The pens are huge and grassy so the horses have something to eat but sometimes it's harder to clean the pens out. They have a big arena and a round pen that can be used as well. The trails are pretty well maintained with more dirt than rock on quite a few of them. There are tons of trails, but many cross each other and aren't always marked the best, but you're not going to get lost. You have to check their website because they only have certain weekends when anyone can come and ride. Happy trails!
