My hunting partner and I chose the Biggs Ranch that fit our pocket books. We enjoyed the farm house and the scenery. The ranch owner/guide was a very nice gentleman. The method that he used for hunting us was a little unexpected. We road the roads of his property and state property for hours each day with very little opportunity to harvest a Elk which was our primary focus. I was able to take a Mule Deer using the ride the roads method of hunting. I volunteered to gut the deer and all 3 of us loaded the deer. Unfortunately the guides well at his private residence was broken and we missed a hunt mid week. The guide did let me try a evening hunt with a decoy but a snow blow came in and destroyed that hunt. The truck we initially started out in was a rig that wasn't very accommodating as it had no doors for the back seats and the person in the back was basically trapped. The guide did change trucks for the rest of the hunt thank goodness. By the last day of our hunt we were both becoming very discouraged that we were going to be skunked. So we head out after the previous days snow storm and start road hunting again and a couple of hours in my partner sees a Elk and was able to fill his tag with a remarkable Heard Bull Elk. He was trapped behind a juniper shrub about 100 yards up a very steep slope. We all headed up to try and get the Elk freed up. We got it freed up and all 3 of us and the Elk start tumbling down the slope. I was injured and my partner. No medical attention was sought as it was abrasion and bruising kind of stuff. We had to free the bull up 2 more times and finally got it to the road. This takes me to another concern about the lack of useful equipment that should have been available for retrieval of the Bull. We, to include the guide were all senior gentlemen that in my opinion created a very unsafe experience. Had the guide had a block and tackle and a sufficient rope this could have been a much safer retrieval and we could've avoided the fall. This is honest review of my hunt experience with Montana Hunting Company and I hope your hunt ends better than mine. Understand this about western outfitters and guides, they are never inclined to reduce, reimburse or rebook at a reduced rate in the event you are skunked and do not harvest on your once in a lifetime hunt. Buyer beware.

Best outfitter experience I've ever had, bar none! Definitely under promises and over delivers (unlike most outfitters today who are always pushing inflated score numbers and success rates, etc.). In a class of its own. I've done some hunting through outfitters in the West and Midwest. I've also guided a little. Arnaud, Jim, and Karla operate on a level above the rest. They don't mess around. All their ranches are top notch, major league, well managed; and most importantly, allowed only minimal hunting pressure (the opposite of 99% of outfits today). I've yet to find any outfitter that could even come close to rivaling what these guys do.
