What an incredible experience!!! This is the premier hunting lodge in Kansas. The staff is absolutely incredible. The food is first class, very spacious lodge with all of the amenities and an excellent setting. Our group shot pheasants and spent some time at the rifle range shooting up to 1,300 yards. Highly recommend!
Buffalo Nickel Lodge exceeded all our expectations! Simon's meals were absolutely delicious, making each dining experience a delight. Nick and Jack were incredible guides, offering a memorable and engaging experience. Watching their dogs work the field was truly awe-inspiring. Jackie and Jodie were fantastic bartenders and hostesses, always serving with a smile and mixing up great drinks. The sporting clays and long-range shooting were incredibly fun and well-organized, adding an extra layer of excitement to our stay. The primitive kitchen at sunset was a special treat, creating a perfect ambiance to end the day and trip. Let's not forget the on-site pro shop, it was well-organized and stocked with a lot of great items, everything from soft goods to customized yeti drink ware. The lodge itself is beautiful, with super comfortable beds that ensured a restful night's sleep. Highly recommend Buffalo Nickel Lodge for an unforgettable stay!
Just finished 5 days hunting pheasant here and it was genuinely spectacular. The lodge is beautiful and spotless. Roomy, beautiful bar and lounge area appropriately decorated with hunting trophies, wood and leather. Jackie and Jodi made the most delicious and creative drinks (marshmallow mule by the “outdoor fire kitchen”, Bloody Mary’s with flaming hot Cheetos, perfect margaritas, & classic old fashioneds). Simon the chef made every meal unique and scrumptious (most of the crew ate second and thirds even)...yes, breakfast, lunch and dinner (nothing served twice!!); think gourmet ranch style Midwest-Tex/Mex fusion. My GF loved it and had never shot a shotgun before! What more can be said about Nick (main hunting guide and all around do-everything host) and his amazing dogs! He and Jack (other super hunting guide) were so professional and accommodating and their dogs are a real sight to watch work (you’ve never seen happier working dogs). Every person at the lodge caters to your any desire. Literally…and always with the most positive, engaging, attitude. The shooting range (pistols and out to a mile rifle range) is stunning with state of the art target cameras and spotting scopes and creative steel targets (even a Toyota pick up with mock terrorists in the back at 1300 yards). Nick helps you dope your rifle and scope too. He’s just an amazing guy and you instantly want him to be a close buddy of yours. Jackie and Jodi are the most personal and lovely hosts and can handle lodge humor like professionals! They are wonderful sports and aren’t happy unless you are. The sporting clay stations work beautifully and are challenging and Nick and Vinny help your group keep score and stay honest. I just can’t say enough about how much fun my GF and I had; and how relaxed the lodge is as well. Randi (she’s kinda photographer, business office manager) is lovely and also works hard to cater to the group’s logistics needs. Lastly the “pro shop” and the gun room are uniquely stocked with upper crust cool-guy hunting toys (I got the most beautiful Montana Knife Co. hunting knife with Buffalo Nickel logo inscribed on the blade). We had about 7 guys and 2 gals and not one of us walked away with the slightest reservation about our 5 star experience. We are already booking for next year! Well done Buffalo Nickel Lodge, bravo for first class accommodations, gorgeous hunting fields, and absolute top shelf service.
My experience at Buffalo Nickel Lodge was nothing short of amazing. Jackie, Nick, Simon, and Randi deserve special recognition for their incredible hospitality and expertise, they somehow managed to keep everything seamless, even with me around. Randi was absolute perfection from planning to check in. She ensured all forms, waivers, and licensing were squared away before we even arrived. Once we got there, she had everything perfectly organized, making the pre-check in process and kickoff as smooth as could be. Her attention to detail and warm welcome set the tone for an amazing stay and made us feel right at home. The food? Oh, it was fantastic. Simon crushed it with a Mexican themed, family style dining which meant everyone at the table felt like family, even if they were just here for the tacos. And let’s not forget the snacks and coffee. I think I drank enough coffee to fuel a pheasant hunt all on my own. The upland hunting was top tier. Nick, the pheasant whisperer, made sure everything was well organized and fun. When I wasn’t missing shots (purely intentional to give the birds a fair chance), I kept busy with long range shooting, sporting clays, and even a little cornhole. The “primitive” bar was a hit too, I may not have won at poker, but at least I won at drinking bourbon. And catching a football game while relaxing made everything even better. Let’s give Jackie a special shoutout for being an absolutely amazing bartender. Her specialty drinks were the bomb, seriously, I might have tried them all (for research purposes, of course). Not only were her cocktails incredible, but the easy conversations she added made the bar feel like home. If there was a drink menu inspired by her, it’d definitely be called “Jackie’s Magic.” The lodge itself was spotless and cozy, with plenty of bathrooms and comfy beds. After a day of activities, falling asleep was easy, even though I was already dreaming of more tacos and pheasants. Buffalo Nickel Lodge has everything you’d want: adventure, relaxation, great food, and the kind of people who make you feel right at home. Whether you’re hunting, shooting, or just trying to look good throwing bean bags at cornhole, this place is perfect. Can’t wait to come back and (maybe) improve my aim!
My wife and I had a great time at the Buffalo Nickel Lodge. I've got to tell you, it's a special place where the bucks are big, the people are down-home friendly, the food is fantastic, the countryside is beautiful, the shooting range is world-class, and the lodge is gorgeous and over-the-top accommodating. It was a hunt/vacation we won't soon forget.. Dan Perez
