Extremely valuable nature habitat! Fantastic birding, gorgeous plant diversity. Tragic littering issue, bring a trash bag to collect and pack your trash out. Parking fills quick.
Local hole for fishing and kayaking. Paddle up the Salt River, pushing your boat past the chutes to find the best fishing, and have fun paling down the chutes.
Beautiful scenery and so much to offer wildlife enthusiasts! Experience marred by: beer bottles/cans, junk food wrappers, terribly drawn graffiti and abandoned still smouldering campfires. Some potential here with some TLC. No bathrooms, potable water or seating area.
The water had an unpleasant smell that I didn’t enjoy, but other than that, it was fun to watch the baby frogs and hike from the mountain. I did have a scary moment when a man followed me, so I had to play hide and seek in the woods to get away. Later, two other men approached me in a weird way, and I couldn’t understand their accent. I told them my boyfriend was waiting for me and quickly left the area, opting for the mountain instead to have a more relaxing time. I wouldn’t recommend going there alone, but it could be a good family spot if you don’t mind the lake’s smell.
Beautiful landscape and water, however the entire place is trashed with beer cans, liquor bottles, and spent ammo casings. We need to do better. This place is polluted and nasty. If they cleaned this place up it would be awesome. They also need law enforcement presence here. It is cool to see, but watch your surroundings and don't go alone. FYI- I'm only giving 3 stars for the natural beauty.
