It’s hard to put into words what an incredible special place the Darwin Ranch is. Kathy, Oli, Paul and the Staff have created something unique and extraordinary. We had one of the best weeks of our life at the Darwin Ranch and immediately booked our return trip for next year. Whether it is the absolutely spectacular landscape, the beautiful and perfectly trained horses, the magnificent staff, the amazing food, the cozy cabins and of course the fantastic hospitality - you have to experience it because words won’t do it justice. Darwin is not for everyone - Not for the right ones it’s everything! Patrick
We had an incredible, once in a lifetime experience at the Darwin Ranch. The staff was extremely attentive and the views were unbelievable! The recreation options are limitless; horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, the list goes on. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re looking for a unique experience in the Rocky Mountains!
Our family has been fortunate to travel many parts of the U.S., Central American, Europe and other parts of the world together. After spending six nights at The Darwin, we can honestly say it is a world class destination. The setting is gorgeous (breathtaking on horse rides and hikes); the animals are friendly and treated so well; the fly fishing is top notch and secluded; the food is gourmet, creative, and only "farm to table" ingredients used; the wood-fired hot tub and sauna was an incredible way to be in nature by the river after a day of adventures and before Happy Hour; and the staff made us feel like family from the moment we were greeted by Laura upon arrival. A shout out to wrangler, Joe, for taking our family on six horse rides and allowing us to explore parts of the breathtaking area only accessible on horses. And to owners, Ollie and Kathy, we could not be more grateful for the hospitality. You and your team went above and beyond to make the cabins exquisite, cozy yet luxurious and the lodge decorated impeccably and perfect for the surroundings. Thank you for sharing your ranch with us, including evenings of playing games in the lodge after dinner, sing-alongs, country dancing, or gazing at the thousands of stars in the mountain sky - what a better way to bond with those you love. Here are quotes from my family members, first our 18-year old son: "The Darwin Ranch makes you feel as if you were invited to someone's personal cabin and taken into the family as one of their own." Next from our 21-year old daughter: "This was a week of unwavering love, joy, and complete beauty. It was an experience I wouldn't trade for the world." And from my husband: "Darwin Ranch offers adventure in every direction with the comfort of a 5-star resort in the middle of the Wyoming Rockies, accompanied by an incredible staff that you come to call friends when you leave." For anyone considering a "dude ranch" or outdoor vacation, I would suggest the seclusion of The Darwin over anywhere else so you can be fully immersed in natural beauty that is cared for and not commercialized in any way. The tears in our eyes as we left the ranch were a sign of the love we felt from you all. We hope to be back soon.
I don't think words can fully describe how amazing The Darwin Ranch is. First off Kathy and Ollie take the cake for hosts with the most. Their warmth and clear passion for this place is so apparent in every detail and every employee they hire. On top of that the location is insane, truly untouched beauty in every corner. I’m a foodie and the meals throughout the week were beyond impressive. All of the meat comes from their ranch in Cody, which made it feel even more special. You can truly taste the love and care that goes into every dish, and the new bread program is so impressive for just starting this year. Tartine better watch out! We loved all of our rides and the adventures around the ranch. The lack of cell service might be a downside for some but we loved disconnecting and being fully present in such a peaceful place. Ending the day with the sauna and a cold plunge in the river was the perfect way to relax after being out exploring. I could go on and on about our experience but needless to say we enjoyed it so much that we already rebooked for next year. This place is truly one of a kind and I can't wait to make more memories there :)
A rustic and beautiful guest ranch nestled on the Gros Ventre River at the edge of the wilderness. Visited several times and thoroughly enjoyed it each time.
