2/17 at about 2:45pm. Elk were out! Our kids loved it. The visitors center (10-4pm) was great! Lots of stuff for kids to do.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Oak Creek wildlife refuge. A rare experience to learn more about our elk population and other animals in the ecosystem.

Free experience ran by volunteers that provides visitors with a chance to get up close to large herds of elk as they come down to be fed during winter months. You can call ahead to reserve a spot on the tour or try out your luck by coming in. Truck just takes you out into the middle of the herd as your provided educational information about the elk.

Neat place to stop and see the Elk during the winter months at the feeding station. There's also a nice hiking trail across the street, with some rock climbing available to one side of the trail, and the river on the other. The trail I recommend year round :)

It's awesome to see these animals close up. It's free to ride the truck out into the herd. When the hay trucks start up, the elk in the hills start coming down. Show these workers you support them by buying a Discovery Pass. $35 online or even Ace Hardware in Naches.
