I use a ton of guides all around the US and John and his team are top notch! The food was great! I went to the Colorado location, the cabins were new and very nice. The lodge was large and spacious. Really laid back and they let you hunt! Which I love. Last yr was my first yr with SD. Going back this yr again with some more customers and will continue to return! Thanks John for a great time!

Johnny and his crew are some great guys that offer an amazing experience for people of all levels of experience…the lodge is comfortable and Julie(the cook) prepared some very tasty meals!!! There is a shooting range on site to get a last second check on your bow or rifle, they transport you to the hunting location via side by sides, they field dress or transport your elk back to the lodge in preparation for the butcher after you harvest….they have all the connections for meat processing and taxidermy. Crazy big bulls are everywhere in the property! My guide Travis, was awesome…he got us into position to view several bulls, filmed, made the whole experience pretty dang awesome! Loved it so much I already booked my next hunt!

I’ve recently hunted with SD outfitters for an archery elk hunt, I went back and forth whether to go on a rifle hunt or archery and I have to say I’m tremendously satisfied with my choice of using my bow. It was a challenge to get close to these majestic elk but after multi stalks I was able to take a 90 yard shot at a beautiful 6x6 Bull and absolutely smoked him. If you practice your long range shooting consistently, you will be confident that your arrow will hit the make! I highly suggest you giving Johnny a call at SD Outfitters if you are interested in harvesting an elk with your bow!

I just wanted to start by saying thanks Johnny and crew. I called Johnny this last winter and talked to him about an elk hunt I decided to book an archery elk hunt in Utah on the Utah ranch. Issac was my guide and he did phenomenal work. Julie the cook made the best dinners. We were successful and I seriously couldn’t put together on how awesome it truly was. I liked them so much and had such a good time I booked a deer hunt in Colorado with them for 2026 and then an antelope for 2027. I am then planning on coming back to Utah in 2028 if they aren’t tired of me. Thanks guys and be blessed.

Just went hunting with Johnny and the guys at SD Outfitters and it was a one in a lifetime experience. I had the best time hunting and scouting for elk and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of guides to put me in a position to get my first elk. I got my first elk and got engaged on the mountain with my now fiancée, it was such an amazing experience and can’t thank SD Outfitters enough for their time and effort. 10/10 I would recommend anyone to book their next guided hunt with them. I hope to one day make it back for another hunt.
