We stayed in the Carol Jean cabin and had a fantastic experience! Very clean accommodations with everything we needed for our stay. We hiked back to Lakota Lake one day which was beautiful! This property is secluded, quiet & a peaceful retreat for a black hills vacation! Thank you for sharing your property with us and hopefully we can come back some day!

Stayed at the Calmity Jane cabin. It is very beautiful and the beds are comfortable. The view is amazing, saw wild turkey and deer right out the front door. It is close to Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, Custer state park, and Iron Mountian road. An added plus is having a conversation with the owner on his front porch ( I highly recommend you do if you stay here). If you love historical, old west vacations this is the place to stay!

We very much enjoyed our time at McMR. It's very close to Custer State Park, Black Hills National Forest and Mount Rushmore National Memorial but away from the touristy areas. The evenings were quiet and a great break from the noise. The cabin was very clean and spacious. The owner lives on site and was very gracious. Though the cabin could easily accommodate more, we found it a perfect place for a couple seeking some privacy.

We stayed at the Calamity Jane cabin for one night. When we arrived, there was a herd of deer crossing in the valley across the road. The BnB is a little ways away from Rushmore and doesn't see much traffic. Very quiet and serene. The cabin is well restored and has room to sleep 3 comfortably. Richard is very knowledgeable of the area and has a great deal of family history in the making of the Black Hills roads and tunnels. Very cool to hear about. He also helped us out in picking a hiking trail for Black Elk peak. The location is very close to Custer State Park and super easy to get to Sylvan lake from. If you go straight from here, be sure to stop at the checkpoint near the General store at Sylvan lake to get a Custer State Park permit. There were a few things that weren't great: the wifi was very poor in the cabin, about the speed of dial-up. We didn't really need it so it wasn't an problem for us. Breakfast was a continental style instead of fresh cooked.

Historical..Calamity Jane slept here! Route of the stage coach. Central to all the fabulous sights in South Dakota. First class cabins with beautiful scenery. The proprietors are super friendly and delightful. Your comfort is their first priority.
