Donnelley Wildlife Management Area

Beautiful area for those who enjoy wildlife and peacefulness. We took the 11 mile driving tour and enjoyed reaching the narratives for each stop listed on the map. The driving map and be downloaded or you can pick up a paper version at the office. We will definitely be back.

As an avid birder visiting from out of state, I highly recommend this place. The drive through is beautiful, and the auto-tour is interesting. Best to plan a few stops to look and listen for birds, or you'll miss much. Park and do a slow walk across the first crossdike (auto-tour stop #2), and peer into the wooded swamp. You'll find something of interest there.

Fun place to venture when the weather is cooler. Walking the causways will get your cortizone going with all the gators on both sides. Be aware of your surroundings, I had a gator get into ambush position along trail from water. I saw it ahead of time though.

There's lots to do here. You could spend a day playing around. Areas to stop and have lunch. Gators are all over, lots of different birds, walking trails for miles, and driving trails to take you around the area. The trails are easy to get through. Stop at the front office gate and get a map of the area. It is a clean place. Thanks for those that keep it that way!

Great stop and rest from a long road trip. So much adventure in this area. Gators and birds galore. The old house was a nice find. Definitely keep your pets leashed!
