The Old Catskill Game Farm - Inn & Campsites

My husband and I stayed in the zebra room at The Old Game Farm after he watched mysteries of the abandoned. What a wonderful experience. Our room was beautiful and Shawn gave us an in-depth tour of the grounds and buildings. Only wish we could have seen it during its operating days🤷‍♀️. Worth the trip.

We went for the abandoned zoo part of the property - and enjoy the 3 hours we spent exploring the grounds - but the really impressive part is the inn. Sorry to say we didn't stay there, so I can't tell you much about the rooms, but the remodeling and decor of the common areas are STUNNING. They've done such a beautiful job! And the owner was communicative and helpful every step of the way. Visiting the Old Game Farm was a highlight of our trip to the Catskills.

We recently stayed at the Old Catskill Game Farm for a celebration event with a group of friends. What a wonderful experience! The Giraffe barn has been renovated into a beautiful air bnb, preserving parts of the history through signs and other artifacts. Shawn, who helped us with booking, gave us an amazing tour of the grounds. We were accompanied by his goats. The rooms at the air bnb are beautiful and animal themed. It was perfect for our group of 7, with extra space. I am already looking forward to returning in the future! This is truly a unique experience.

What a great concept—purchase an old abandoned zoo. Carve out space for guests to tent camp on the property and explore. It is peaceful and secluded at the site. Plenty of firewood and water (since there’s no running water or electricity). Shawn is, as everyone suggests, a terrific host who goes out of his way to ensure you have a good visit. But he could use about 10 more hands under him to move things along more! The only downside to our trip was the toilet—we’ve used an outhouse before, which is not an issue. But to have a tiny popup tent to cover the toilet (imagine tossing a sheet over your head so nobody can see you), and carry out your own bag of waste, was, uhhh, underwhelming. We all basically held it till we were out and about, except for the ladies. You’d think for the price per night this could be stepped up somehow. Otherwise, a really great place to check out and chill!

I found adventure at Catskill Game Farm. Exceeded expectations.... which were already high! Exploring the grounds and buildings was a blast and super interesting. Being able to roam around this place that was once so different was a once in a lifetime thing. Really enjoyed it. I ran into staff members who enhanced the experience a lot with their friendliness and conversation. We stayed at the Mountain View Tenterr site, which was great. If you're interested in urban exploring sort of things, it's a must do.
