We had an incredible time at Concho Hills Guest Ranch! Tim and Marilyn are a wonderful couple—so warm, welcoming, and truly hospitable. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like part of the family, inviting us into their home and their way of life. This isn’t your average trail ride. The instruction was thorough and hands-on, and by the end of the trip, we genuinely felt like real cowboys. Western-style riding is no joke—it’s challenging, especially if you’re new to it—but that’s what makes it so rewarding. If you’re willing to put in the effort, you’ll walk away with skills and memories that last a lifetime. And let’s not forget the food! Tim and Marilyn cooked all our meals, and every bite was fantastic—hearty, homemade, and exactly what you’d hope for after a long day in the saddle. We would absolutely go back again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a true western experience, not just a touristy ride.
I cannot say enough positive things about our time at Concho Hills Guest Ranch. Tim and Marilyn were such hospitable hosts and made us feel like we were part of the family. Tim provided excellent instruction in western-style horseback riding and had me feeling confident and comfortable with riding any horse by the end of our 5-night stay. I knew I loved riding before, but now that I know how incredible it feels to ride freely without having to follow a trail, I'm hooked. The low-key highlight of the trip was all the wonderful meals prepared by Marilyn. I thought I was going to come back 10 pounds heavier because everything was delicious. Tim and Marilyn are such lovely people and it truly did feel like we were spending time with family. I could not have asked for a better experience! I sincerely hope to go back again in the future. P.S. All of the horses are beautiful, but it almost brought a tear to my eye to say goodbye to John Wayne. To anyone who goes, please give him a hug for me!
We’ve just returned from an incredible four-day stay at Concho Hills Ranch with Tim and Marilyn, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth into their beautiful home and treated more like friends than clients. Their hospitality was exceptional, and every meal we shared was delicious—Marilyn’s cooking in particular was a real highlight. The guest accommodations were clean, comfortable, and attractively finished, with thoughtful touches throughout. The fully stocked laundry room in the accommodation block was an unexpected and very welcome bonus, adding to the overall convenience and comfort of our stay. Of course, the true heart of the experience was the time spent with the horses. Each one was beautifully trained and had a calm, friendly temperament, making them a joy to work with. Tim’s instruction was outstanding—patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging. While we may not have become barrel racers, we learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoyed every moment in the saddle. Beyond riding, the ranch offers a variety of other activities including shooting, archery, hiking, and guided tours to local places of interest, ensuring there’s always something to enjoy. If only the UK weren’t so far away, we’d already be planning our return visit. Concho Hills Ranch offers a unique and memorable experience that combines comfort, adventure, and heartfelt hospitality—we wholeheartedly recommend it.
After having looked at several Guest/Dude ranches’ websites, my attention was drawn to the detailed and well-written website of the Concho Hills Ranch. I got interested not just because they won The Signature Ranch Award by True West Magazine, but because of the comprehensive descriptions of how and why they started the ranch and the passion in their voice for ranching, riding, the ranching community, and the history of the region. The facilities at the ranch are outstanding, clean as a whistle and comfortable. The home-cooked meals are prepared right in front of you with great care and served with pride. I made sure to be on time for each meal to avoid the food getting cold. A delicious steak grilled to perfection should not be eaten cold. The website almost sounded too good to be true, but I can assure you everything on it is accurate and a true reflection of the quality guest ranch Tim and Marilyn have created. I had a wonderful 5 days at the Concho Hills Ranch, and I whole-heartedly recommend the experience thanks to the care, hospitality and attention Tim and Marilyn paid to me. I strongly recommend that if you want to learn to ride western or are not skilled in it, that you spend a minimum of 4 days there, because they will not take you on trail rides where your horse follows the one in front. They teach you to ride your horse independently and that takes time and effort to learn. As they clearly state on their website, and I can confirm that, learning how to ride the way the horses are trained takes time and dedication, especially if you acquired “incompatible habits” from having learned a different riding style.
We had a wonderful time at the ranch. Tim and Marilyn, the owners, were amazing hosts and made us feel right at home. The rooms were modern and comfortable and the main house was roomy with a huge kitchen-dining room and a beautiful living room. The food was great and was a real treat every meal. Tim taught us so much about horses, cattle and ranching and was a great instructor for the cowboy riding style. The horse facilities were perfect for training and the horses were well trained and in excellent condition. The country was beautiful and the views were classic southwest. We had a wonderful time, would go back in a flash and highly recommend the ranch to anyone looking for an amazing experience.
