Amazing stay at Burnt Well. If you’re looking for an authentic, working cattle ranch to get a glimpse into the life of cattle ranching in the desert, this is the place to go. Went on the pregnancy testing week with three friends. We wanted somewhere where we could do lots of horseback riding, herd some cattle, but have a nice place to come back to relax at night in bed. This was the perfect place. We all agreed it opened our eyes into the world of cattle ranching that people don’t often get to see, and gave us a whole other appreciation for the beef/ranching industry, as well as an opportunity to do a ton of riding :) Kim and Patricia were so kind and hospitable. As previous reviews have said, they really make you feel welcome, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into what they do, and how they run their ranch. One of the highlights is dinner, where you not only get to enjoy Patricia’s amazing cooking, but also get to sit down as a group and enjoy time to converse and get to know everyone. It was truly a blessing to have spent the week with the other great guests and such amazing hosts. The ranch itself and the bunkhouse were great, and it was fun to hang out at night and just chat, laugh, play pool, and enjoy the hot tub. Would highly recommend.

What a unique and wonderful experience! First and foremost, Kim and Patricia Chesser are exquisite hosts. Folks, this is a working ranch and yet they open their home and hearth to visitors from around the world. Patricia "The Boss" prepares wonderful, family style meals with a huge Lazy Susan at their supper table while Kim politely (and humorously!) takes the guests ranching and riding. Accommodations are clean and comfortable (we stayed in the Bunkhouse) and we enjoyed the roaring fireplace in the evening.

After experiencing guest ranches, we went to Burnt Well to try a working ranch. We didn't really know what to expect and were rewarded with a very unique experience. The riding is very different as riding is about doing a job: checking cattle, bringing in bulls, etc. By riding with a purpose, our skills improved and our respect for horses increased. Outside of the riding, the ranch is in a beautiful remote area. The "bunk house" where guests stay is roomy and comfortable. Eating with Kim and Patricia at their table is welcoming and the food is great. Explaining the stay is difficult as it is so unique and every day is different. I have never left a "vacation" so genuinely caring about the people I met and wishing them the very best. After being in this dry region, I also will look never look at rain as a nuisance again. We simply loved our stay and the ranch is calling us back for another visit.

Patricia, Kim, Cody, Amber, and Hurley were all incredible hosts! Their horses were wonderful, their ranch beautiful, their cooking delicious, and their stories thoroughly entertaining. I would highly recommend a stay at Burnt Well Ranch to anyone who loves animals, the outdoors, good food, and great people!

The Chesser family runs their exciting guest ranch with overwhelming warmth, gentle kindness, and impeccable hospitality. You will be amazed by the beautiful landscape, you will learn about ranching through hands-on experiences, and you will be impressed with what you are able to accomplish under Kim’s careful instruction. Patricia will keep you fed with delicious family recipes and will make sure you feel like one of the family throughout your stay! I cannot recommend this place and these special people strongly enough.
