Niobrara River Ranch

This is the third year we have rented these cabins. This year we rented Cedar Cabin. First of all, the website needs desperately to be updated as well as the reservation process. The website had exactly one photo of our cabin which made it difficult to plan. Every year we have to wait for someone to contact us after submitting our request, and often have to email them several times to get a response. It would be so much easier to be able to reserve and pay online. We have never had an issue with our cabins not being clean. Cedar cabin this year was beautiful and very well furnished. There was a set of pots and pans, dishes, cups, silverware, cooking utensils, hand soaps in the bathrooms, clean towels, and extra toliet paper. The refrigerator was large. The cabins themselves have not been maintained well. Our oven was missing a front (which did not affect its functionality), the porch has support beams that don't touch the roof and actually provide no support, there are nails and screws sticking out of places, the smoke alarms are all disconnected, and the picnic table outside is rotting. There is no garbage disposal and our ice maker in the fridge was not hooked up. Cedar Cabin has six bedrooms that each contain a full bed, and a seventh bedroom that contains a full bed with a twin bunk over it. There are two window box air conditioners in the living room area but nothing for the bedrooms. We opened our windows (screened) at night and it was ok, but ceiling fans in bedrooms would have been great. The showers are clean but the shower heads have no pressure and leak water all over. As others have mentioned, there are no locks anywhere. Also, no sign for the cabin so it is a bit confusing to find and know you are at the right location. No dumpster on site, we weren't sure what to do with all the trash. The location was perfect, and far enough off the road to not be an issue. There was a fire pit, grill, and picnic table in the back. We bring our own tubes so we don't use NRR for this service. Overall, we always enjoy ourselves. If we don't stay in the future, it will likely be due to the high cost for what you get.

We had 5 bats in the Walnut cabin that started flying in the evening. Owner asked why we called at 11 pm . Bats wont hurt anyone. Deal with it or pack up and leave and i will send you your money back. We left in the morning, to a much nicer place. Got 1/3 of my money.

WARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE I made the mistake of booking this without looking at google reviews. Upon arrival, the cabin reeked of mouse pee. We brought food to grill and eat while we were there. The first morning we woke up most of our food had been chewed through on the counters. Advertised as AC, there is one window unit for the 2-bedroom cabin in the front room. No screens on the windows so can't open those. The maintenance and cleaning at the cabins is nonexistent. Complained about smell and actively seeing mice on the counter, in the bathroom, and running throughout. The owner told me, "The mice were here before us and will be after us." Great location for tubing but the equipment is old. 1 star for this place is generous. Read the other reviews and don't try your luck, this is the worst place I have stayed in my life. I’m only giving this one star rating because I can’t give a zero star rating. The owner does not care the about people staying at the Niobrara River Ranch cabins. There were mice crawling on us while we were sleeping. There was mice crawling between your legs while you’re sitting on the toilet. I would absolutely not recommend that a single person would ever stay at this awful place. There were mice crawling around on the kitchen countertops when we were eating supper. The cabin smelt horribly of mice pee and visible droppings on all of the furniture that was so old and ragged. The TV didn’t work at. Not to mention you’re sitting out by the campfire and get eaten by a lot of mosquitoes. When asked for money back from our stay for the awful conditions we were in the owner refused and acted like nothing was wrong. Be warned this owner does not care about you and finds no concern with the conditions of these cabins. WARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE.

Rented the middle cabin. View was fantastic. It was a real log cabin with full kitchen and bathroom; which was amazing. They shuttled us to and from the river for our tube float and back to our cabin. Making it convenient and easy for our group. Reason for 3 stars: Cabin had a strong smell of urine and furniture was old and dirty. I’m guess because of pets? We had to purchase lots of candles and air fresheners to cover the smell and did not sit on the couches. The organization pertaining to the river float could have been better as well, but overall everything other than the smell of the cabin was good. Our group had a wonderful trip. Cabin needs a good cleaning and updating to earn 4-5 stars.
