Elkhorn Ranch

We just returned from an unforgettable week at Elkhorn Ranch (Week 10, 2025 season) with our family of four, and we can’t say enough good things about the experience. We had very little horseback riding background going in, but wanted to try something new together — and Elkhorn exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we felt instantly at home. Our cabin was tastefully decorated, comfortable, and the perfect home base for the week. Each day was filled with activities, and we especially loved the morning horseback ride to breakfast and the daily fly fishing excursions. The other guests were wonderful too, and the square dance on the last night was a highlight for the whole family. Our boys (ages 7 and 11) absolutely loved the Peanut Butter Program. The “peanut butter mommies” not only cared for the kids while we had some adult time, but also created such a fun environment that our kids wanted to spend all their time with the other children. A special thank you to Spencer and Casey, the incredible managers. Their pride in the ranch shines through — they were always available to answer questions or just share a friendly chat. Elkhorn Ranch is a truly special place, and we will definitely be back!

My husband and I spent a heavenly week at Elkhorn Ranch. As noted by some of the other reviewers, everyone there went out of their way to make us feel cared for and comfortable. The staff are outstanding. Casey and Spencer, who run the ranch, are kind and personable, and also went above and beyond trying to make sure we had a first rate experience. The riding is great! We had the same horses all week long and spent a lot of time in the saddle. The wranglers are top notch. I felt totally safe and comfortable. Our cabin was rustic, for sure, but very comfortable. Every morning someone came in while we were still sleeping and lit a fire in the stove in our sitting area so we would wake up to a warm cabin. We saw bear while riding, a moose by the barn and elk outside of the ranch. They also have an incredible fly fishing instructor/guide on staff, Jack, who's super! All in all a fabulous experience. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful week full of horseback riding, great tasting food, dancing, and enjoying nature. I took my twin girls 9 and we had a glorious time. The perfect time of year, flowers blooming, weather was nice. Elk Horn provided everything we needed for a safe, educational, and fun week. I hiked, the kids road horses. We white water rafted and visited Yellowstone. Will definitely be back again.

Just spent a week at Elkhorn with our children and grandchildren. Everyone had a amazing experience. What a outstanding staff that Casey & Spencer have that take care of everything and wonderful to be around. Wasn't big on that much horse back riding but could not wait to go again. The fly fishing was outstanding. Our Grandchildren love the Peanut butter group and had a great week with all the activities. Highly recommend!

The ranch is beautiful but the staff is what will bring us back to visit! Very warm and welcoming with no issue too big! The horses are well cared for and the wranglers do an amazing job of giving each rider the perfect horse. The trails are breathtaking. We met so many nice people and had such a diverse experience from horses to fishing to hiking and a visit to Yellowstone! Casey and Spencer are very concerned about each guest feeling at home. We experienced two cabins and both were so nice. Very rustic and clean. We met each staff member and became friends by the end of the trip! Easy access from Bozeman airport and we will rented a car for convenience. Don’t miss the square dancing on the last night!!!
