Twin Lakes Whitetail

We had an absolutely amazing experience! We felt right at home with beautiful lodging, wonderful cooking, and even better hunting conditions. The staff and guides felt like family at the end of the trip!

My hunt at Twin Lakes Whitetail preserve was the best guided hunt I have ever been on. The lodging was high quailry and outstanding. Patrick prepared high restaurant quality meals along with professionak assistance with my deer preparation. He was very friendly treating me like he has known along time. Victor is a great host providing a memorable experience and like Patrick treated me like a long lost friend. His knowledge of the deer and the ranch superior. He was an excellent guide. I never felt pressured to make any decision in fact Victor made sure I was ok to walk away if I didn't see what I wanted. Jimmy "the skinner" along with Patrick did a quality job preparing my deer for the processor and the taxidermist. Please visit Twin Lakes Whitetail you will not be disappointed.

The food here was definitely the best part about the whole trip. The woman can cook! I still crave some of the stuff she made us, and she was a sweetheart. Also the cabin is very nice, the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Having a comfy bed is extremely important to us so that was a huge plus. We were somewhat frustrated with the guide, and he was the only negative about the entire trip. He came off a little arrogant, he played on his phone the whole time we were in a stand, and the price we were quoted was not what we paid. Also, the prices on the website were not accurate, so I guess it’s a surprise until he tells you at the end what you owe him. He told me a price for a typical and a cheaper price for a non typical, however I paid the price for a typical but I shot a non typical deer. So not really sure what happened there. All in all, it’s a really nice place with some absolute monster bucks. I’d say it was worth the money, just wish we had a better experience with the guide.

The Good: Beautiful place, good food and very relaxing. The Bad: Told staff that toilet was broken in our cabin on day 1. Day 4 and it was never resolved. We were forced to stick our hand down the back of the toilet to lift plunger every time we used the bathroom. (This was also after reminding the staff numerous times) Made a total of 6 hunts and hunted the exact same stand every time. It got boring looking at the same landscape every single hunt. In those 6 hunts we saw a total of 6 deer and it was the same deer all 4 hunts (two hunts we saw no deer at all). Make sure you know how to score deer from the stand!! VERY IMPORTANT here. Unlike all other places I have hunted if you are quoted a 180-190 in the stand and you actually shoot a 160-170 you pay for a 160-170. Not at this place you pay whatever price he told you and you must deal with it. They will also score the deer when you aren’t present so you have no way of knowing what it really scored. I would not recommend unless you are an expert at scoring deer; Otherwise you are paying for what he tells you it is in the stand and whatever it scores doesn’t matter at all.

Had to leave one star to be able to post. Last year I booked a hunt with Vic Rogers for a 190 class buck. Oh he sent the pictures. I sent a one thousand dollar deposit. Bout 3 weeks before my hunt he called to let me know that tgr three bucks he haf either broke their racks or died but I could shoot a bigger one for ten grand verses the right we agreed on. He could either refund the thousand or apply it to another buck for this year. Back in summer I emailed him to request a refund due to medical issues. Hadnt seen the money yet. Hunter beware. I'd book somewhere else
