My twin daughters have been taking private horseback riding lessons with Ms. Renee, and I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about the experience. From the very first lesson, Ms. Renee created a warm, supportive, and professional environment that helped my girls build both skill and confidence. Her teaching style is patient and encouraging, yet she challenges them just enough to help them grow as riders and competitors. They’ve recently started competing, and the transformation has been incredible to watch. Not only are they developing as athletes, but they’re also learning discipline, focus, and responsibility—life lessons that go far beyond the barn. Most importantly, they absolutely *love* every moment they spend with Ms. Renee and the horses. It’s clear that this is more than just riding lessons—it’s a passion being nurtured with care and expertise. We are so grateful for the joy and growth this experience has brought to our daughters!
I’ve been boarding my horse at Rolling Hills Ranch in Port Deposit, MD since 2018. Renee, the owner, is a passionate and hard-working woman who manages a busy lesson barn with care and dedication. Renee is always welcoming, greeting you with a smile. She genuinely cares about both the riders and their horses, creating a warm, supportive environment that makes you feel right at home. It’s clear she puts her heart into everything she does, and it truly shows in the care and attention given to everyone at the farm. Even with the active lesson program, there’s always ample opportunity to ride—whether it’s in the jump ring, dressage ring, on the trails, or in the indoor arena during bad weather. The facilities are well-maintained, and there’s always a welcoming, supportive atmosphere. Renee’s love for horses shines through in everything she does. She has a heart of gold and treats every horse like her own. She oversees the care of 15 to 20 lesson horses, all of which are maintained in excellent condition. While a few are older, they remain in good weight and receive top-quality veterinary care and she respects any limitations they may have. I’ve always believed in putting my horse’s well-being first—when my horse is happy and thriving, so am I. Both are met at Rolling Hills Ranch.
We love Rolling Hills Ranch and Renee! My daughter has been riding at the ranch for a year. She loves going to lessons and performing in shows! We enjoy taking care of the horses and spending time with them. Renee is an excellent teacher and amazing person! My daughter has learned so much from her!
Hey I'm Elise a I was one of her top riders when I was their you may or my not know a bay horse there named sparkle she was taken care of carry poorly after I left and I believe 2021 I boarded there and I rode there. That was my first writing barn. I should say, but I have two horses of my own. I used to board there like I said, but one day that really like it ticked me off, cause it was sad I knew more than the instructor. It was bad one day I walked in like during the summer just to come check on my horse, she was doing a summer camp and she was like oh I’m watering and haying the horses like all throughout the day and I’m like OK that’s fine but the horses are in all day so I’m like why is there no water in my horses two water buckets and she was like oh we just filled those and I’m like clearly you did not because they’re empty and she’s like a pony so she doesn’t drink a lot of water and then one day we give our we have hay net for our horses and we found our horses hay on the ground and hoof pick inside the hay and I walk over to the main instructor and I’m like why is there a hoof pic in my horses hay cause it’s my horse so I’m the only one that’s supposed that supposed to be in her stall like actually taking care of her unless you’re taking her out so why why would there behoof pick in there? why and then so after that we left, and we came back every now and then to check on our favorite horses sparkle and every time her she was either you could see her ribs or her health was just declining and I could you not the instructor that’s there runs horses till they literally can’t run anymore. It was sad, so yeah, just please don’t go there.
I love this farm! The trainer has done amazing things for my daughter. She was stuck in a rut for the past year, then we came to Rolling Hills. In just 5 short months, my daughter has learned so much and gained so many new riding skills. Her trainer is quick to offer new experiences to her riders, and she encourages advancement at their pace. As a bonus, the barn family is so welcoming and supportive of each other. So glad we found Rolling Hills 💜
