Man what an amazing experience and hidden gem for my dad and I. Not the best season to go red fishing but our guide was very knowledgeable and still didn’t go home empty handed. Now the duck hunting was more than we could’ve asked for. Our guide for both days of the weekend Duncan was over the top good. For 26 years old, I’d put him against any duck caller. First day we were supposed to go to the marsh but he recommended to move to the field which we did. Killed 8 teal that morning with clear skies no wind. Now the next morning he knew it was going to be a good south wind and preplanned ago go to another field blind. Killed 8 different types of birds that day, canvasback, speckledbelly, green head, black mallard, wigeon, teal, spoonbill, and a grey duck. Should’ve had a pintail but missed the shots. Never saw so many birds in one hunt and being with my dad made it even more special. Will go again one day and will always ask for Duncan to be our guide. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
I dont know where to start , of course the lodge and food was amazing ! but of course the review on fishing is the most important, 2 mornings and one afternoon of fishing and we caught a total of 120 fish ! What an amazing trip ! fishing here was amazing ! Ask for Mark as a guide ! he was super. patient and friendly with us , and he got us 120 HUGE fish !
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The lodge is in a pleasant location with very friendly staff. Every meal was delicious and I must recommend the bread pudding which is easily the best I have ever had. The open DIY bar adds a very homely feel. We were here to go fishing and they took excellent care of us. This is a fantastic location to fish, as a visiting Brit I found the different options meant I was able to enjoy a plethora of experiences. 5/5 for Gross Savanne Lodge, I will visit again.
Gross Savanne did not leave our group wanting for anything. The atmosphere is fantastic and welcoming. The staff even more so. The meals are off the chart deliciuos, if you leave hungry it's your fault. The guides...can't say enough. Hard fishing, informative, accommodating and friendly. One of the most, in my opinion, thingsvis the guide picks you up an drives you to the launch location. Giving you a time to talk and bond, instead of being just ask to "step on the boat".
All around great place! This was my first visit, and I hosted several clients for a cast and blast. Great location, great hospitality, excellent food and service, and super friendly staff and guides. They showed us a great time and we’ll definitely be back!
