Well after being home for a week fallowing my hunt I decided to reflect on my time at LOG…. First of all this is just an honest account of my time there..the accommodations were great Whitney was a wonderful host and did a great job cooking… the guides seemed to be on point for the properties they had access to pickup and drop offs were on point … however bottom line we were instructed not to shoot any bucks below 140” class which is completely reasonable in my book however after spending between 7-10 hours a day in tree stands and ground blinds aside from 3 or 4 VERY SMALL BUCKS NOTHING WAS SEEEN …. And 2 of those days absolutely NOTHING WAS seen …. IDE say it was isolated to me however out of 17 hunters in camp alll their stories were the same … there was 4 or 5 bucks shot total by all 17 hunters in 5 day period…none aside from one that was possibly over 140” everything else was definitely below140” class like I said I’m not here to bash or tell stories these are the facts … in my opinion too many clients starting with archery through muzzle loader before we got there… this is a review and these are the facts I was into this trip about 7k and had zero shooter sightings…. Do the math and explore your options before booking this hunt unless you have money to burn…

I had a great hunt in late April 2023. I saw multiple jakes before taking a large bird. I was able to hunt alone and do my own calling as well as being fully guided. Very windy but made it work. Great lodge , very friendly people whom I now consider friends and good food. No complaints whatsoever and I am looking forward to a deer hunt in 2024.

When I first contacted LOG they told me there would be 8-12 hunters, tops 15 during my hunt (week 2) but when we showed up there were 27 guys. This was just way too many for only around 60 stands. The food was weak, you only got one tiny lukewarm/cold preset portion for dinner and it was maybe half of what I would normally eat. There was very poor communication from leadership and it felt like they did not care if we came back, just cycle more hunters through as fast as they could. The weather didn't cooperate but only around 1/3 of the hunters had actual shooting opportunities at the 140" class minimum.  I talked to a hunter from week 3 who had the same or even worse experience. The one bright spot was that my guide was great. He was a young guy and I think he really tried but with so many hunters his hands were tied. No doubt Kansas has big bucks but skip LOG and find a smaller outfitter or lease your own land.

Bit of false advertising. Informed that shot opportunity for >140” would be 90-94%. We had 17 hunters 8 shot deer over 140”. Week before was bow season 21 hunters and was informed no one shot a buck that week.

We had a fantastic time, I seen to many deer to count and had multiple shot opportunities as did most of the other hunters we were with they just couldn’t capitalize (that’s bow huntin) Brandon and Justin are great guides they tracked my deer for over a mile on their hands and knees. Great food ,great people can’t wait to go back
