Absolutely amazing experience! Comfortable lodges with leather recliners, mini fridges, Netflix and Starlink internet, hot showers and good beds. We had a very tough week with the weather, cold and rainy, it was 10-15 degrees colder than it should’ve been and the rain made it tough to track. I have never seen anyone work harder than Amon to get me a big bear. He was working from 5 am to 11 pm; he never stopped. We treed multiple bears through the week and he never pressured me to take an average bear. Friday morning we got our big boar. Amon is a dying breed, a true hunter and he cares about the whole experience; I got a big bear, ate amazing food, met great fellow hunters and the lodging was like a hotel. I’m coming back next year and bringing my brother.

I did the archery hunt the week of Sept 15th 2025 and had a great experience. This is not a hunt for sissies, the terrain is thick and either steep up hill or down hill but rarely flat, with fallen trees and limbs to constantly step over. The guides had an enormous amount of experience in the area and were extremely skilled at calf, cow and bull elk calls. The camp accommodations were simple trailer mounted cabins with bunk beds and wood stoves for heat. A hot shower is available, outhouse, and kitchen tent with an onsite cook. The food each day was amazing, especially after the 4-6 mile morning and evening hunts. This was the most real hunting I have ever done. My guide Jake called in a young bull less than 15 yards from where he positioned me and I was able to successfully deliver a vital shot that had the elk down less than 35 yards from where he was hit. This is a physically demanding hunt so I plan on conditioning myself better before I return but I will definitely do this hunt again in the future.

Having been on multiple guided hunts in the US and Canada, I can say without question that Amon and his crew at Shattuck Creek Outfitters is definitely what I'm looking for in an outfitter! The lodging was great, the food was outstanding, and the guides were by far better than any that I have dealt with in the past. I was on a five day bear hunt over bait for my very first bear and took my bear on the afternoon of day two! I notified my guide by two way radio and he was there in just a few minutes. Everything was taken care of quickly and very efficiently - this group is "all pro"! They even have a taxidermist they work with, and if you go that route, it's all taken care of. The communication amongst everyone there was awesome. The experience left me wanting to come back again next season, so I just booked another hunt (this time for the hound hunt), and my wife will be joining me to try for her first bear.......

Shattuck Creek Outfitters is a truly special, family-owned and operated business located in Elk River, Idaho. My brother and I were there for a spring black bear hunt, and from the moment we pulled into camp until the day we left, we felt like part of the family. We made the long drive from Missouri, and although neither of us filled our tags this time, the experience was still unforgettable. The crew at Shattuck Creek works incredibly hard, and their passion, work ethic, and knowledge of the land really stand out. You can tell they care deeply about what they do, and it shows in every detail. The cabins we stayed in were hand-built by the family, and they were comfortable, clean, and full of character. There’s something special about sleeping in a place that was made with care by the people hosting you. The food was also top-notch—plenty of it, and every meal was hearty, delicious, and perfect after a long day in the woods. What really made this trip memorable was how involved and welcomed we felt. Whether we were glassing ridges, hiking the hills, or sitting around the fire in the evening, the camaraderie and genuine connection were unforgettable. It wasn’t just a hunt—it was a full experience. If given the chance, we’d go back tomorrow. In fact, we’ve already booked our return for spring of 2026.

Hunted the 5 day Elk Hunt, stayed in the Lodge. From the time we drove in until the day we left we were totally involved with the hunt. Amon has top guides on his team, they work very hard to see that your hunt is successful. We had Brandon Todd who was very helpful and personable.
