SoCal Outfitters

Through my research I knew deer hunts in Southern California had average success rates well below 20% for the general season. I chose to make it even more difficult by hunting with a bow. Being a new deer hunter with no field experience, I realized I needed guidance, so I searched for outfitters in San Diego on Google. I found Blaine’s Socal Outfitters website and reached out. We arranged a hunt for San Diego County’s opening archery weekend. During the hunt, Blaine was easy company and shared a wealth of knowledge with me. I learned different hunting tactics as we ran ambush and spot & stalk plans. Blaine spotted numerous deer and put me on the two bucks that decided to come out this early in the season. He guided me into archery range on both. I would have gone home with a buck, if not for a random coyote on the first and my failing to mind the wind on the second. Despite not getting a deer, I consider the hunt a huge success. I accomplished everything I wanted: I got invaluable field experience and got close to a successful harvest twice. I attribute this to Blaine’s guidance and the two solid days he spent bringing me up to speed and putting me on deer. I couldn’t have asked for a better first deer bowhunt. I am confident the lessons I learned from Blaine will lead to many successful future hunts. I look forward to going out with Blaine again, and I would recommend him to anyone interested in a guided hunt.

did a duck hunt with Socal Outfitters in January 2022. Learned a ton about duck hunting, great lunch was provided and best part was the birds were flying right in. Wish I made a reservation sooner for the 2022/2023 season.
