This place is the best. Been coming for 20 years now. Tom Jr. is a cool guy and a true conservationist at heart. The dogs are amazing and kid-friendly - we had a 5 year old and he loved them. It can get loud at dawn... but just rent a room at the Omni in Scottsdale and watch a nature show while you're getting a pedicure if you're leaving anything other than a 5 star review here! And maybe reconsider your life's trajectory. I'm a professional PhD-level biologist. This is hands-down THE canyon in SE Arizona for wildlife and Beatty's is hands-down THE best for a cool rustic-style stay. I'd say either are contenders for top spots in North America.

Great and knowledgeable owner of the trails, wildlife, and property in general. Hosts a few cabins for a fair rate in the area. They have water and electricity - I peaked inside a vacant one but did not use them. An honor system $5 deposited box blocks a path on the property where you will hang left and cross a bridge and have shaded bleachers to view many hummingbirds at ~6 feeders. I saw 6 species in a sitting. June-Jugust are best months for this. The trails are well maintained and I went up about a mile ins search of a fire colored tanager with my dad. We saw it. All in all loved chatting with the owner and would return/bring a family for a relatively safe cabin/hiking experience. There are bears, jaguars, ocelots, etc in the area with you. Owner has some hounds to keep them humble, though.

Beatty's Guest Ranch is a hidden gem. Nestled in the hills of Miller's Canyon, Tom's homestead provides stunning views and access to the back trails of this gorgeous mountain range. I spent some time in Cabin A, a charming rustic cabin that offers just enough of the basics to make visitors feel at home. The warmth of the woodstove kept me toasty and the starry night sky filled me with awe. Staying at Beatty's is an experience I won't soon forget!

What can I say about this place. It is literal heaven. The owners are so kind and helpful. We came for a hike and stayed 2 nights. The cabin was D and it was so quaint and cozy. We explored the grounds and enjoyed the birds. We saw some local wildlife, enjoyed a rain fall, took too many photos. The family has been here taking care of this little slice of Heaven for decades, they know so much about the local ecosystem, wildlife, and the orchard they care for. The apples are fantastic, the birds are plenty, and the whole place is just wonderful. Wether for a day hike, a weekend getaway, or just a stroll I 10/10 recommend visiting. I think the day hike is 5$ and the cabins range in price, ours was 2 bedroom, 1 bath, and a kitchenette with a cozy living room, and was 120$ a night. We obviously stayed another night because the deck of the cabin was literally in the trees. Please please please come support a local family and visit. You surely won't regret it. Additional note: I saw reviews about the family being rude, let me dispel those rumors. They are so friendly, knowledgeable and kind, Tom Jr was the sweetest funniest man. We chatted a ton and him and the pups were so friendly. My daughter is 4 and they ran around and kept an eye on her like she was one of the pack. If you want kindness you need to exude gratitude. So that’s all I have to say about that.

I love staying here! I've never seen so many hummingbirds in one spot!
